Langar (free kitchen):
Langar (or free kitchen) is an integral part of our weekly Sunday gatherings. Food is served to one and all, right after the Sunday prayers, starting at 1:00 PM.
Langar is also served continously for three days during Gurpurab celebrations and Akand Paath Sewa.
At GNRS, the community has followed a tradition of signing-up for their turn for preparing the langar.
Signing-up for Langar Sewa:
If you would like to sign-up for an available time, then please call our office at: (614) 276- 9797
or stop-by to fill-out the sign-up sheet posted on the Gurdwara notice board.
Volunteer activities:
A number of volunteers from sangat are consistently needed for activities related to Langar sewa.
We encourage everyone to help with the activities like:
· Preparation of Langar
· Serving the langar food items to sangat

· Cleaning up the floors, counters and kitchen after the langar.
The Background
The Langar or free kitchen was started by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is designed to uphold the principle of equality between all people of the world regardless of religion, caste, colour, creed, age, gender or social status. In addition to the ideals of equality, the tradition of Langar expresses the ethics of sharing, community, inclusiveness and oneness of all humankind. "..the Light of God is in all hearts."
